Armorshield Plus Intercept ™Technical Specifications
Armorshield Plus Intercept ™ (AS+I) is a new shrink-wrap material with anti-corrosive properties, offering a stronger cover with water wicking properties and a corrosive gas barrier. This is a material with which we make heat-shrinkable kits. AS+I is composed of five layers.
The two outer layers are a special shrink/stretch polyolefin film, which remains flexible after shrinking and contains an advanced ultra-violet inhibitor that will for a long period of time.
The third layer is co-extruded with the first two and contains Static Intercept Technology resin, which blocks corrosive gases that have migrated through the first two layers.
The fourth layer is a 1.5-mil thermoplastic bonding plastic containing no solvents, which is applied to the film in a hot continuous layer. This layer does not come in contact with the surface of the item being protected and will not leave a residue on the surface. Its primary function is to bind the shrink film and polyester fabric together.
The fifth, and inner layer, is a unique spun non-woven polyester fabric, which is completely inert. It will not react with the finish or react with any residual solvents in the finish. It is hydrophilic which is anti-condensing and anti fogging but which wicks away moisture. In addition, it allows the curing process to continue. The anti-condensing properties of this layer help protect the finish from moisture damage. The fifth layer also reflects a majority of the heat during the shrinking process, protecting the finish from over heating and actually causes the film to shrink faster. Additionally, the heating process will only temporarily increase the equipment skin temperature 34-50 degrees Fahrenheit over ambient temperature. The inner non-woven layer is engineered for total scratch resistance. The fibres of the non-woven fabric are aligned for maximum cushion, softness and abrasion resistance.
When shrunk, all layers shrink simultaneously, forming a softer yet stronger finished product, and the film is safe, it contains no solvents or other harmful vapours. The material will maintain its properties under extreme temperatures and the unique laminating process allows the film to remain soft without altering the original characteristics of the inner and outer layers.
